Pricks
falter in Senior
Scatman, Digger, The
Professor, Little Boy, Nina, Haydie
Carry GolfPrick Standard in TempleGusta club championship
The GolfPricks were well-represented in last
week's Senior Club Championship at TempleGusta, but nobody could bring
home the bacon and all left after the two-day event with nothing but
baloney.
Digger and Scatman each competed in the
Championship Flight with Digger
ending up tied for the lead after shooting a 69 on day one.
Scatman was in 4th place with an uncharacteristic 74.
They each went opposite directions on day two, with Digger going 7-over
after three holes, then shooting 1-under from there-on-out to shoot
himself out of contention with a 78. Scatman shoots 66 on day 2,
missing a 4-foot birdie putt on 18 which would have gotten him into a
playoff with the eventual winner.
The
Professor led Flight 1 after shooting a 74 on the first day only to sky
to a 79 on day 2 to finish second in his flight.
Little Boy opened with an 80, which included a
penalty for clanking his ball off a tree trunk and into his cart in
Flight
4,
along with Nina, who also had a penalty for playing the wrong ball.
Little Boy followed up with an 81, which gave him 4th place. Nina
had an eventful 84 on day 2, which
included hitting 4 provisionals off
the tee on the par-5 #2, only to find
and
play
his original ball.
And last, but not least, Haydie
finished 4th in Flight 6 by
shooting 87-86.
Congratulations to all you Pricks for having
the courage to go out and embarrass yourselves and the rest of us in
front of the whole club.
Paulie returns, Coach Denny's farewell
tour.
Paulie made his first return visit
since being banished to North Carolina for shooting scores too low for
GolfPrick membership and hacked it around much to the chagrin of his
partner Ralph Squirrels and utter joy and excitement of competitors EZ
and Big Boy, prompting Big Boy and EZ to each offer to buy return
weekend plane tickets for him. He was able, however, to cut EZ out
of a scat on #26 by draining an impossible 25-foot birdie putt from
above the hole. And the carnage could have been much worse if not
for Ralph Squirrels birdie-/40-yard eagle finish on #17 and #18.
And Coach Denny, after finally getting his
Wednesday and his Saturday games competitive, is leaving in two weeks
for Indiana, to spend more time with his children and other kinfolks and
to avoid having to deal with the GolfPricks on a weekly basis. We
all wish him well and hope that he returns from time to time with the
same golf game as Paulie. You will be sorely missed by all.
