GolfPricks Dominate Templegusta
Senior Club Championship (... Right!)
Fourth Flight gets sand-bagged and "Bennetized

The GolfPricks were well represented in the 2008 Senior Club Championship at Templegusta this past weekend (Aug. 9-10) with two pricks winning their flights, two placing in their flights, while three others choked and gagged under the pressures of formal competition and one was a virtual "non-factor."

In leading the way, the Fourth Flight was "Bennetized", as many pricks regularly are, as The Bennett, sporting his 14-handicap, carded a two-day gross of 77-78/155, for a net 63-64/127 and slithered away with the first-place trophy.

Haydie finished a couple of sandwiches and a net second behind The Bennett in the Fourth Flight with 86-84, parlaying his 13-handicap into a two-day net of 144, 17 shots behind The Bennett. Needless to say, this raised the eyebrows of the handicap committee, who immediately began an investigation into The Bennett's posting and "creative scoring" patterns.

The Professor captured the First Flight lead on day one, posting an even par 72, net 66, and held on to the net first-place finish with a second round 75, net 69, for a two-day net of 135. He was also the lowest-scoring GolfPrick in the tournament.

CRCCS Budreaux was tied for the first-round overall lead after posting a smooth 1-under 71 in the Championship Flight, two shots ahead of cart partner Digger, who, after posting a 3-under front nine 33, fell back to a back-nine 40 for a 73. But two days of riding with each other proved to be too much for the pair as both faltered to second round twin 77s. It was enough, however, for Budreaux to post a third-place Championship Flight finish with a net 143.

The other prick in the Championship Flight, Ralph Squirrels, choked and gagged his way to a four-double bogey (two on Par 5s and two on Par 3s including a 5 on the 90-yard 17th) opening round of 79. He rallied somewhat with a second round 72 but did manage one final regurgitation on the possible-eagle-almost-certain-birdie Par 5 8th (his 17th) by push-slicing his drive 100 yards off-line and into the lake, resulting in his only back-nine bogey.

The Colonel opened up with a sterling 75 but coughed up a cardiac-medicated 84 in round two that reportedly included 11 three-putts.

Little Boy, aka Golden Boy, the most practiced prick from the gold tees, was the non-factor, shooting a respectable round-one 80, a net 71, but staggered home in round two with a lackluster 87.

A GolfPrick spouse also finished in the money over the weekend as Mrs. Colonel won the Second Flight in the Ladies Club Championship.
