Digger's (aka Eddie Eagle) exploits continue
Victimizes Eazy and Moses with dazzling iron display

Degro's 2009 golf dominance continued Thursday of last week as he took Eazy and the CRCS to the proverbial cleaners by holing his second shots from the fairway on two of the first three holes.

"I hate him," Eazy said after the round.  "The son-of-a-('explicative' [see Jack Daniels Webster dictionary] deleted) has done this to me before.  The last time was when he made two holes-in-one in three holes.  He's just unbelievable.  I may never play with him again.  Unless he's my partner."

Not being able to find enough friends for a foursome, the threesome teed off on #10 of Templegusta's back nine.  A front-right pin placement makes second shots critical with near-impossible putts from anywhere above the hole. All three appear to find the green with reasonable approaches but the elevation makes the final resting spots indeterminable.

Upon arrival at the green, Moses finds that he has a fairly good poley-length sidehill, downhill birdie putt and Eazy has a decent two-putt possibility.  According to the victims, Digger has hit a fairly good-looking approach to the left side of the green but his ball cannot be found on the green.  Much to the chagrin of his fellow competitors, Digger finds his ball in the hole.  2-under after one.  Needless to say, both playing partners three-jack for bogies.

The par-5 11th results in routine pars for Eazy and Digger but Moses, possibly still reeling from what just happened on 10, three putts again for bogey.

On 12, with a middle-left up-on-the-knob pin placement, Degro strikes again with a second shot to the left side of the green which appears destined to roll of the left back side of the green if it goes an inch too far but spins back and right into the hole for another 2. 4-under after 3.  Talk about shock-and-awe.

Fortunately, for the two hapless partners, the carnage subsides somewhat as Digger plays out the nine in par with one bogey and a birdie on 15 finishing with a sterling 4-under 32.  However, there was one casualty as Eazy drowned his TaylorMade hybrid, along with the headcover, in the creek after uncharacteristically hooking his second shot left of the cart path on the 16th hole.

The story doesn't end there as Digger proceeds to open his second nine by making birdie on the par-5 19th to go 5-under on his round.  One can just imagine what kind of whining and moaning is going on at this juncture and apparently the effects of the negative hexing and shaming being applied finally takes its toll as Digger plays the next eight holes in 5-over and winds up with a smooth even par 72.

All was not lost, except for Eazy, that is, as Budreaux did manage to win all four greenies to offset Diggers two eagle and two birdie scats.  The CRCS's back-nine was not without excitement as he, after hitting a great recovery shot from a pulled drive to 20-feet from the hole on the GoatRanch's #22, was a tad aggressive on his birdie putt to a treacherous back-right pin placement, putting his ball off the green and down the hill.

"I borrowed Digger's sand wedge, chipped back up and two-putted for a smooth six," Moses said.  "Does that count as a four-jack, or just a one-jack one-chip two-jack?"
